Given the difficulties of buying a home or securing social housing, an increasing number of people (some of whom are vulnerable) rent from private landlords (some of whom are predatory). But the problems that can arise from this mix - unsafe properties, rent arrears, ill health, evictions - aren't inevitable.
Advice agencies, such as CHAS and Citizens Advice, therefore work with tenants and landlords to build happy, long-term tenancies that work well for both parties.
